Preserving The Bible For Posterity
Preserving the Bible for Posterity
In AD 1456, the Bible was the first major book printed by the printing press developed by Johann Gutenberg.
Before then, How did God preserve His Word?
God’s Word has passed through different eras and phases. Yet, God has preserved it. And He will. The Word of God lives and abides forever.
Do you know that the text of the ‘Five Books of Moses’ was dictated by Ezra, through The Spirit’s inspiration, when they had been lost at the Fall of Jerusalem? And the same Holy Spirit who is the Author of the Bible can and will reproduce the Bible anyday and anytime if all the Bibles in the world were to be destroyed.
THE BIBLE IS HERE WITH US!
As at 1995, I had 68 different kinds of Bibles and every available Version then. I do still have over that number presently.
There are so many people that have the Bible in hard copies that no amount of technological development can phase them out.
There is nothing that can phase out the Bible!
PRESERVING THE BIBLE TODAY
It is important for us to note that having hard copies of The Bible and taking it to Church does not guarantee its preservation neither will reading the Bible from Laptops, iPads, etc phase it out.
I want us to know and note from the following Scriptures how God wants us to preserve His Word in this world.
Deuteronomy 6:6-9
6 And these words, which I command thee this day, shall be in thine heart:
7 And thou shalt teach them diligently unto thy children, and shalt talk of them when thou sittest in thine house, and when thou walkest by the way, and when thou liest down, and when thou risest up.
8 And thou shalt bind them for a sign upon thine hand, and they shall be as frontlets between thine eyes.
9 And thou shalt write them upon the posts of thy house, and on thy gates.
Deuteronomy 11:18-21
18 Therefore shall ye lay up these my words in your heart and in your soul, and bind them for a sign upon your hand, that they may be as frontlets between your eyes.
19 And ye shall teach them your children, speaking of them when thou sittest in thine house, and when thou walkest by the way, when thou liest down, and when thou risest up.
20 And thou shalt write them upon the door posts of thine house, and upon thy gates:
21 That your days may be multiplied, and the days of your children, in the land which the LORD sware unto your fathers to give them, as the days of heaven upon the earth.
Psalms 40: 7-8 Then said I, Lo, I come: in the volume of the book it is written of me, I delight to do thy will, O my God: yea, thy law is within my heart.
Luke 24: 27 And beginning at Moses and all the prophets, he expounded unto them in all the scriptures the things concerning himself.
2 Corinthians 3: 2-3 Ye are our epistle written in our hearts, known and read of all men: Forasmuch as ye are manifestly declared to be the epistle of Christ ministered by us, written not with ink, but with the Spirit of the living God; not in tables of stone, but in fleshy tables of the heart.
Jeremiah 31: 33 But this shall be the covenant that I will make with the house of Israel; After those days, saith the LORD, I will put my law in their inward parts, and write it in their hearts; and will be their God, and they shall be my people.
Hebrews 8: 10 For this is the covenant that I will make with the house of Israel after those days, saith the Lord; I will put my laws into their mind, and write them in their hearts: and I will be to them a God, and they shall be to me a people:
Hebrews 10: 16 This is the covenant that I will make with them after those days, saith the Lord, I will put my laws into their hearts, and in their minds will I write them.
So many Christians carry the Bible everywhere but they cannot quote 20 Scriptures from the Bible; neither can they remember any relevant Scripture to apply when they have a challenge. That’s the problem.
God wants us to embody the Word. God wants us to become the Word Made Flesh or Living Epistles. God wants to have His Word written in our hearts and in our minds. That’s the only Authentic way He preserves His Word.
Even if the whole world is consumed by fire, I will still have the Bible. It is written and engraved in the tables of my heart. His Word is within my heart. And when I speak, the Words I speak are Spirit and Life, not just letters read from a copy of the Bible.
Many carry the Bible but are empty of the Word of God. Let us focus on having the Word in us! Let us work at BEING the Word made manifest. That’s what matters most.
We should work on ourselves to get to a point like Adam in Eden and like Jesus when we do not need to carry the Bible to live and do all it says and be able to pass it on to others without carrying a physical copy!
God Bless you.
Peace!!!
