How To Give And Never Lose Your Reward!
God says in Matthew 6:1-4 “Take heed that ye do not your alms before men, to be seen of them: otherwise ye have no reward of your Father which is in heaven. Therefore when thou doest thine alms, do not sound a trumpet before thee, as the hypocrites do in the synagogues and in the streets, that they may have glory of men. Verily I say unto you, They have their reward. But when thou doest alms, let not thy left hand know what thy right hand doeth: That thine alms may be in secret: and thy Father which seeth in secret himself shall reward thee openly.”
Galatians 6:6-10 says “Let him that is taught in the word communicate unto him that teacheth in all good things. Be not deceived; God is not mocked: for whatsoever a man soweth, that shall he also reap. For he that soweth to his flesh shall of the flesh reap corruption; but he that soweth to the Spirit shall of the Spirit reap life everlasting. And let us not be weary in well doing: for in due season we shall reap, if we faint not. As we have therefore opportunity, let us do good unto all men, especially unto them who are of the household of faith.”
Acts 2:42-45 “And they continued stedfastly in the apostles’ doctrine and fellowship, and in breaking of bread, and in prayers. And fear came upon every soul: and many wonders and signs were done by the apostles. And all that believed were together, and had all things common; And sold their possessions and goods, and parted them to all men, as every man had need.”
Acts 4:32-37 says “And the multitude of them that believed were of one heart and of one soul: neither said any of them that ought of the things which he possessed was his own; but they had all things common. And with great power gave the apostles witness of the resurrection of the Lord Jesus: and great grace was upon them all. Neither was there any among them that lacked: for as many as were possessors of lands or houses sold them, and brought the prices of the things that were sold, And laid them down at the apostles’ feet: and distribution was made unto every man according as he had need. And Joses, who by the apostles was surnamed Barnabas, (which is, being interpreted, The son of consolation,) a Levite, and of the country of Cyprus, Having land, sold it, and brought the money, and laid it at the apostles’ feet.”
Jesus warned us against giving for a show. Never give for a show! Never! But most Christians and Church people have chosen to go the way of the world. They give for a show – to be seen of men. The advertise and publicize their giving for the world to see and applaud them. Jesus says they have lost their reward by that practice. God can never reward them.
Notice that there is we must give. There is a Scriptural pattern and process The Lord has given to us if we must give God’s way and be rewarded by Him.
What did Jesus Give to the needy?
Who did Jesus Give things to?
How did Jesus Give to the needy?
Where did He give to the needy?
Jesus gave food but never to the Sick
Jesus never fed the Sick. He spoke the Word to them and healed them first before He fed them. Let’s look at the examples of Jesus Christ feeding people in Scriptures.
Before He fed the 5000 men beside women and children, He healed them.
Mark 6:30-44. He taught them and fed them. “And Jesus, when he came out, saw much people, and was moved with compassion toward them, because they were as sheep not having a shepherd: and he began to teach them many things… And when he had taken the five loaves and the two fishes, he looked up to heaven, and blessed, and brake the loaves, and gave them to his disciples to set before them; and the two fishes divided he among them all. And they did all eat, and were filled.”
Luke 9:10-17. He spoke to them of the kingdom, healed them and fed them.
“And the apostles, when they were returned, told him all that they had done. And he took them, and went aside privately into a desert place belonging to the city called Bethsaida. And the people, when they knew it, followed him: and he received them, and spake unto them of the kingdom of God, and healed them that had need of healing… Then he took the five loaves and the two fishes, and looking up to heaven, he blessed them, and brake, and gave to the disciples to set before the multitude. And they did eat, and were all filled: and there was taken up of fragments that remained to them twelve baskets.”
Matthew 14:13-21. “When Jesus heard of it, he departed thence by ship into a desert place apart: and when the people had heard thereof, they followed him on foot out of the cities. And Jesus went forth, and saw a great multitude, and was moved with compassion toward them, and he healed their sick… And he commanded the multitude to sit down on the grass, and took the five loaves, and the two fishes, and looking up to heaven, he blessed, and brake, and gave the loaves to his disciples, and the disciples to the multitude. And they did all eat, and were filled: and they took up of the fragments that remained twelve baskets full.”
Before He fed the 4000 men beside women and children, He healed them.
Matthew 15:29-38 29 “And Jesus departed from thence, and came nigh unto the sea of Galilee; and went up into a mountain, and sat down there. And great multitudes came unto him, having with them those that were lame, blind, dumb, maimed, and many others, and cast them down at Jesus’ feet; and he healed them: Insomuch that the multitude wondered, when they saw the dumb to speak, the maimed to be whole, the lame to walk, and the blind to see: and they glorified the God of Israel. Then Jesus called his disciples unto him, and said, I have compassion on the multitude, because they continue with me now three days, and have nothing to eat: and I will not send them away fasting, lest they faint in the way. And his disciples say unto him, Whence should we have so much bread in the wilderness, as to fill so great a multitude? And Jesus saith unto them, How many loaves have ye? And they said, Seven, and a few little fishes. And he commanded the multitude to sit down on the ground. And he took the seven loaves and the fishes, and gave thanks, and brake them, and gave to his disciples, and the disciples to the multitude. And they did all eat, and were filled: and they took up of the broken meat that was left seven baskets full. And they that did eat were four thousand men, beside women and children.” [see also Mark 8:1-9].
Jesus didn’t give the hungry money neither did He give them food to take home. He fed them there and sent them home to go and practice the Word of God that guarantees divine supplies to everyone anywhere in spite of their financial status.
He taught them.
He healed them.
He fed them.
He spoke to them of the Kingdom of God. He showed them how God wants them to live in the Kingdom to have all their needs supplied throughout their lifetime here on earth.
How Do You Give and Never Lose Your Reward?
Give to The Ministers of Jesus Christ and Who Preach the Gospel Fully
Luke 4:16-19,25-26 “And he came to Nazareth, where he had been brought up: and, as his custom was, he went into the synagogue on the sabbath day, and stood up for to read. And there was delivered unto him the book of the prophet Esaias. And when he had opened the book, he found the place where it was written, The Spirit of the Lord is upon me, because he hath anointed me to preach the gospel to the poor; he hath sent me to heal the brokenhearted, to preach deliverance to the captives, and recovering of sight to the blind, to set at liberty them that are bruised, To preach the acceptable year of the Lord. And he closed the book, and he gave it again to the minister, and sat down. And the eyes of all them that were in the synagogue were fastened on him. And he began to say unto them, This day is this scripture fulfilled in your ears… But I tell you of a truth, many widows were in Israel in the days of Elias, when the heaven was shut up three years and six months, when great famine was throughout all the land; But unto none of them was Elias sent, save unto Sarepta, a city of Sidon, unto a woman that was a widow.” [see 1Kings 17:1-23]
Give as Sacrificially as Jesus Christ Gave for God’s Will to be done on earth
Luke 6:38,40 says “Give, and it shall be given unto you; good measure, pressed down, and shaken together, and running over, shall men give into your bosom. For with the same measure that ye mete withal it shall be measured to you again… The disciple is not above his master: but every one that is perfect shall be as his master.”
Sell your possession and Give for Jesus Christ’s sake, and the Kingdom’s
Luke 12:31-34 says “But rather seek ye the kingdom of God; and all these things shall be added unto you. Fear not, little flock; for it is your Father’s good pleasure to give you the kingdom. Sell that ye have, and give alms; provide yourselves bags which wax not old, a treasure in the heavens that faileth not, where no thief approacheth, neither moth corrupteth. For where your treasure is, there will your heart be also.”
Give into His Treasury for Meat to Be in His House for the Workers
Luke 21:1-4 says “And he looked up, and saw the rich men casting their gifts into the treasury. And he saw also a certain poor widow casting in thither two mites. And he said, Of a truth I say unto you, that this poor widow hath cast in more than they all: For all these have of their abundance cast in unto the offerings of God: but she of her penury hath cast in all the living that she had.” [see Galatians 6:6; Romans 15:27]
Give for Jesus Christ’s sake, and the Gospel’s
Mark 10:28-30 “Then Peter began to say unto him, Lo, we have left all, and have followed thee. And Jesus answered and said, Verily I say unto you, There is no man that hath left house, or brethren, or sisters, or father, or mother, or wife, or children, or lands, for my sake, and the gospel’s, But he shall receive an hundredfold now in this time, houses, and brethren, and sisters, and mothers, and children, and lands, with persecutions; and in the world to come eternal life.”
Never Give like the Unbelievers and the Hypocrites
Matthew 6:1-4 “Take heed that ye do not your alms before men, to be seen of them: otherwise ye have no reward of your Father which is in heaven.
Many of God’s people are following the ways of the world and not God’s ways. It is not good. And the Word of the Lord to all who practice such is REPENT now! Giving is not for a show even though that’s what most Ministers, ministries and people of God do today. It is wrong.
If you have what to give, go to your local Assembly and give to your Pastors and let them know it is for the poor and needy in the Church. Let them share to the needy among the flock first.
Now, if you are not sure they will do the right thing and ensure the gifts get to the poor, then look a ministry that you know will do what the Lord wants and send your gift there and let the Minister know what the gift is for.
But if you are not sure of any ministry to send it to, then contact Christ’s Ambassadors Living Mission International (Jesus Mission Headquarters; Call: 07033443266). We know what The Lord wants done. And as His Ambassadors on His Living Mission, we are doing exactly what The Lord wants and as commanded us to do with his provisions sent to us. We are His stewards.
Please, do all you can to stop giving for men to see you. Giving is not ‘show business’ unless your resources are not from God. God hates show business in Giving. It does not pay. Doing what God hates does not and cannot bring you God’s blessings. You will only keep losing your reward. And that’s not good at all.
My prayer for you is that you will never give for a show but give as The Lord says and be fully rewarded by Our Father in Heaven.
God bless you.
Peace!
